We Make Recycling Easy

Established in October 1990, the commission is dedicated to providing its member communities with environmentally sound,
fiscally responsible solid waste disposal and resource recovery services. The commission operates the Area Recyclers facility in
Burlington as well as the Des Moines County Regional Landfill and the HazChem Center in West Burlington.

Pleasant, Mediapolis, Winfield, Morning Sun, Danville, New London, Salem, Rome, West Burlington, Westwood, Middletown, and Des Moines County. Providing landfill recycling, ewaste and household hazardous waste disposal options.

Position open...The DMC Regional Landfill has a full time grounds and equipment position open. This position involves skills/knowledge in the proper/safe techniques of building/grounds maintenance functions as well as small equipment operation.Applicants should be experienced with: grounds keeping, litter pickup, general custodial and maintenance duties, operation of equipment such as, skid loader, tractor, mowers, weed trimmers, and utility truck, and able to lift a minimum of fifty (50) pounds. Applicants should also be capable of independent judgment, working outside in a variety of weather, have valid driver’s license, and be available to work flexible days including Saturdays. Must be able to pass pre-employment criminal background check, physical and drug test. Area Recyclers

The Area Recyclers facility receives and processes approximately 3,000 tons of recyclable materials each year. This includes materials collected curbside and at the public drop-offs located throughout Des Moines County. Appliances are also accepted at Area Recyclers by appointment only for a fee.

DMC Regional Landfill

Our sanitary landfill takes in approximately 200 tons of garbage per day from the commission's member communities. All loads entering and leaving this facility need to be tarped or secured to stop litter from leaving the load. A fee will be added to each load that is not secured or tarped.
